The idea for the Wooder Board was born in the summer of 2024 at the Jersey Shore. I was pulling my daughters on a foam boogie board in shallow water. It didn’t work well because foam boards drag instead of glide in shallow water, there were no handles for stability, and the leash plug pops out because it's not designed to pull weight

On the way home we were sitting in traffic on the A.C. Expressway when I realized a skim board, which is designed to glide over a thin film of water, would be the perfect base. But it needed to be redesigned specifically for kids.

So I built a prototype and added secure handles, reinforced the tow rope connection, and designed it for seated riding.

A couple weeks later we tried it and it worked incredibly well! The kids all loved riding it.

Over the next year, I refined the design with manufacturing partners and tested the boards throughout the summer of 2025. Kids loved them. Parents immediately asked where they could buy one.

I launched a Kickstarter in February 2026 and it was fully funded in 6 days. We delivered Wooder Boards to backers in June and the beginning of July 2026. Now we have a limited first production run that is available to everyone!

We are thrilled that other families are now having fun with the Wooder Board at the Jersey Shore and beyond!
